Why Are Helmets Important?

The World Health Organization wrote an extremely thoughtful document called "Why Are Helmets Needed?" where they cover 3 main aspects:

1. Head injuries are the leading causes of death and disability globally

2. Helmets protect your head

3. Helmet use is effective in reducing head injuries

We linked above to the piece, but if you did nothing else, but read the 3 bulletpoints, we can conclude that helmets (worn properly) work as advertised.

As my parents used to say when I was growing up (and complaining about having to take the precautionary steps that felt unnecessary at the time), they trust me - they don't trust everyone else. You can be doing all the right things, but you just happen to find yourself in the wrong spot at the worst time and well, you might be in a pickle.

We're not here to be alarmists, but we agree with the World Health Organization. Helmets are needed and not just for your kiddo, but for you too!
