Why Are Helmets Important?

Why Are Helmets Important?

The World Health Organization wrote an extremely thoughtful document called "Why Are Helmets Needed?" where they cover 3 main aspects:

  1. Head injuries are the leading causes of death and disability globally

  2. Helmets protect your head

  3. Helmet use is effective in reducing head injuries

We linked above to the piece, but if you did nothing else, but read the 3 bulletpoints, we can conclude that helmets (worn properly) work as advertised.

As my parents used to say when I was growing up (and complaining about having to take the precautionary steps that felt unnecessary at the time), they trust me - they don't trust everyone else. You can be doing all the right things, but you just happen to find yourself in the wrong spot at the worst time and well, you might be in a pickle.

We're not here to be alarmists, but we agree with the World Health Organization. Helmets are needed and not just for your kiddo, but for you too!

As parents we've all had moments where we realized that our kids aren't doing what we say, they are doing what we do. We set the example and that's why helmet wearing starts with you. Our helmet partner Kali makes more than just kids bike helmets, they also make adult helmets if you're in the market for one.

And let's say either you or your kiddo take a tumble - Kali provides a lifetime crash replacement for all their helmets. As they say "You crash it. We replace it. It’s that simple."

Don't go another ride with your noggin' not protected, because you only have one brain!
